Why Aren't Ceramic Or Plastic Used For Insulator Posts?

Nuts or screws are embedded in the center of both end faces of the suspension composite insulator column. In the past, ceramic materials were commonly used to manufacture composite suspension insulator insulators. While ceramic materials for polymer suspension insulator terminals offer superior heat resistance, suspension type insulator terminals lack strength, and composite tension insulator terminals are prone to breakage during installation and use. Plastic materials are also used to manufacture high voltage transmission line insulators insulators, but plastic overhead power line insulators terminals lack high-temperature resistance. Long-term exposure to high temperatures can easily age plastic, leading to performance degradation of tension insulator insulators.
