composite tension insulator Measurement method

For single-element high voltage transmission line insulators, the insulation resistance overhead power line insulators can only be measured in the case of power failure. The relevant regulations stipulate that a megohmmeter of 2500V and above should be used. Currently, 2500V and 5000V megohmmeters are more commonly used, and there are also special instruments with higher voltages. But in fact, within 1*104MΩ, 2500V and 5000V megohmmeters with the same accuracy measure tension insulator insulation resistances at the same humidity. When the measured insulation resistance is greater than 1*104MΩ, the 2500V megohmmeter cannot read the accurate insulation resistance value and can only count as ∞. The maximum insulation resistance that can be obtained with a 5000MΩ meter can reach 2*105MΩ.
