Description Of The Fastening Plate Structure Above The Cable Tray Of The Bolt-type Tension Clamp

The bolted type strain clamp unit features a dedicated cable tray for carrying the conductor. Directly above the cable tray, a fastening plate connects the U-bolt to the clamp itself.

When the conductor is placed into the cable tray, the fastening plate is pressed into the clamp by the U-bolt and nut, clamping and securing the conductor. This design originates from the industry-standard "bolt-type tension clamp" (dead end strain clamp / dead-end strain clamp) design.

The position of the bolted dead end clamp fastening plate is crucial. It is positioned above the cable tray, spanning the opening, and applies pressure via the U-bolt. This design ensures more even stress distribution on the conductor within the tray, reducing the possibility of localized damage to the conductor insulation or metal core caused by the tray walls.
