Can The Operating Mechanism Of Sf6 Circuit Breaker Be Used Interchangeably With Dc Circuit Breaker?
sf6 circuit breaker operating mechanism and AC circuit breakers are not interchangeable. The main reason is the arc extinguishing problem. DC circuit breakers have better arc extinguishing performance than AC circuit breakers because the arc generated by DC power is large. If AC circuit breakers are used instead of DC circuit breakers, it is very likely that the arc extinguishing performance will not meet the requirements and will cause accidents such as burning contacts or circuit breakers.
For large-capacity circuit breakers; there are few special products for sf6 circuit breaker spring mechanism, and they are generally replaced by AC circuit breakers. When selecting, products from well-known domestic and foreign manufacturers must be selected, and relevant data on DC breaking parameters and tests must be available. Its protection can only be electromagnetic release mode, not electronic protection. In addition, it is mainly determined by the breaking capacity of the switch, which is the product of the rated voltage and current size of the switch that can disconnect different properties.
The rated voltage of current circuit breakers is mostly around AC 690V. If used on DC 48V, although the voltage at both ends of the switch is DC, the DC voltage value is much lower than the rated voltage of AC, so there will be no major electrical problems in actual use.
Generally, DC circuit breakers of the same grade can be temporarily used in AC situations, but AC circuit breakers should not be used casually in DC situations, as they are prone to generate large sparks when short-circuited. Therefore, when we do not have AC circuit breakers on hand, we can use DC circuit breakers to temporarily fill in the gap, but we cannot use them all the time because DC circuit breakers have high arc extinguishing capabilities.
