Are The Creepage Distances Of Epoxy Resin Insulators Large?
epoxy resin insulator is widely used in electrical equipment. In most products, the high voltage epoxy resin surface creepage distance is typically related to its geometry and surface condition. For example, the nominal creepage distance of some epoxy resin bushings ranges from 64mm to 148mm.
In contrast, for silicone rubber or ceramic insulators, manufacturers often specify a creepage distance of at least 372mm for high voltage standoff in equipment of the same voltage level.
The creepage distance is affected by many factors. Surface contamination or humidity can significantly reduce the originally set creepage distance. For example, when dust accumulates on the surface of an epoxy resin casting with a thickness of only 0.1mm, the "effective creepage distance" can be shortened by approximately 40%.
