EPDM rubber performs excellently in many sealing and waterproofing applications due to its elasticity and aging resistance. However, in mechanical loads and metal contact environments involving fiber optic dead end clamp, this type of rubber does not possess sufficient shear resistance and high stress load-bearing capacity.

EPDM materials have lower tensile strength and tear resistance compared to metals or engineering plastics. They are prone to deformation or wear when subjected to force and friction with cables, which may affect the long-term working condition of fixed dead end clamp.

While EPDM exhibits some weather resistance in UV environments, its adaptability to certain chemical media and high-temperature environments is weak. Exposure to oily contaminants or harsh chemicals can adversely alter its physical properties, potentially causing faster degradation compared to engineering composites.
