Why Do Smart Meters Need To Support Parameter Delivery?
With the accelerated pace of digital development in power distribution networks, single phase smart energy meter is evolving from a single metering terminal to a communication and control node. The smart wifi energy meter architecture, with its data acquisition, edge processing, and two-way information exchange capabilities, is one of the fundamental infrastructures for building modern power distribution networks. Traditional electricity meters typically only perform energy metering, while the smart energy meter system integrates communication modules, sensors, and processing units to interact with the backend system, thereby forming a configurable control link.
In smart grid deployment scenarios, the operation and maintenance platform needs to adjust parameters such as the operating status, communication configuration, and billing strategies of remote meters. Parameter distribution allows the backend system to push these operating, sampling, and transmission settings down to the smart meter terminals via the network, enabling them to be configured synchronously under different load conditions, network environment changes, or grid policy updates. This mechanism becomes possible only if 3 phase smart meter has bidirectional communication capabilities.
