What Is The Shelf Life Of Cable Lugs? What Are The Influencing Factors?
When we buy food, we will check the production date and shelf life on the packaging. Similarly, cable lugs connectors also have a certain safe use period. When the terminal products are stored under certain environmental conditions for a period of time, the material may change, the product performance will also decline, and the reliability of the product will not be guaranteed if it is left unused for a long time. Today we will talk about the "shelf life" of terminal connectors.
The "shelf life" of wire lugs refers to the storage time under certain environmental conditions from the completion of production and qualified inspection to installation, while the effective storage period of electrical lugs refers to the period during which the quality and reliability of terminal lugs during the storage period can meet the equipment requirements before installation, and the basic validity period refers to the effective storage period without considering the quality level of copper lugs.
1. Factors affecting the storage period of terminals
The length of the effective storage period of Aluminum Cable Lug is related to the following three factors:
1. The quality of Compression Cable Lug is the basic condition to ensure that the quality and reliability of the terminal will not be significantly degraded during the effective storage period;
2. The environmental conditions for the storage of the terminal;
3. The qualified criteria for the terminal after storage.
The storage environment of the terminal blocks is specified in the general and detailed specifications of most terminal blocks.
For example, SJ331 specifies that the environmental conditions for the storage of semiconductor integrated circuits are -10℃~+40℃, RH≤80%; the temperature range of the storage environment of semiconductor integrated circuits in the US military standard is -65℃~+150℃. However, these standards only specify the storage environment that is not allowed to exceed the range, not the best environment for the storage of terminal blocks. GB4798.1 stipulates that the warehouse environment level for storing precision instruments and terminal blocks is the highest level, and the environmental conditions are: 20℃~25℃; RH is 20%~70%; air pressure is 70kPa~106kPa. QJ2222A specifies two types of conditions: general storage environment and special storage environment. The general storage environment standard specifies that the terminal blocks should be stored in a clean, ventilated, non-corrosive gas and temperature and relative humidity controlled place. The temperature and relative humidity are shown in Table 1.
The environmental conditions of Class I, II, and III are different. For Class I, temperature and humidity generally do not need to be adjusted; for Class II, temperature and humidity need to be adjusted in certain seasons; for Class III, temperature and humidity need to be adjusted to meet the requirements.
