Two Reasons For Flashover Discharge In Epoxy Resin Insulators

Publish Time: Author: Site Editor Visit: 15

The main reasons for flashover discharge in high voltage standoff insulators are: (1) Lightning strike: The overvoltage caused by lightning can cause high voltage epoxy to flash over and even cause epoxy resin insulator to explode. (2) Internal overvoltage: The operating overvoltage is about 3-4 times the system phase voltage. Flashover under normal operating voltage: The main reason is that high voltage epoxy resin is dirty and encounters heavy fog, drizzle and other weather conditions. This type of high voltage standoff fault is usually called dirty flashover.
