The Birth Of Early Bolt Crimping Technology For Cable Terminals

When the power system began to be commercially applied at the end of the 19th century, Aluminum Cable Lug used the most primitive bolt crimping method. Engineers stripped the cable conductors and directly bolted them to copper terminal blocks. While simple, this method had a small contact area and was prone to loosening. In the early 20th century, terminal structures with pressure plates appeared, improving conductivity by increasing the contact area. During this period, Compression Cable Lug mainly served industrial power distribution systems, and the materials were mainly brass and cast iron.
