Smart Meters Use Dedicated Metering Chips

The smart energy meter incorporates a series of complex electronic modules, with dedicated metering chips being a core component. Unlike traditional solutions that use general-purpose electronic components, dedicated metering chips provide a specially designed architecture for power measurement, thus supporting the hardware foundation of the 3 phase smart meter for measurement tasks.

The metering chip is designed for sampling and calculating electrical parameters, directly processing basic signals such as AC current and voltage, and converting these physical quantities into digital form for internal system processing. In this process, these chips integrate multiple high-precision analog-to-digital converters and signal processing modules, enabling mathematical calculations of complex electrical parameters (such as active and reactive power) to be performed within a single device.

These chips typically include multiple functional modules such as voltage monitoring and current measurement, contributing to a more compact hardware layout and a more controllable development cycle.
