Properly Deploy Lightning Protection Equipment To Improve The Resilience Of The Monitoring System
In the engineering design of monitoring systems, the risk of lines and equipment being exposed to lightning pulses and transient overvoltages must be considered. It is recommended to install 132kv lightning arrester near the monitoring point.
132kv surge arrester should be placed at the critical interfaces of the power supply and signal links of the monitoring system, starting from the power inlet, through the distribution line, and then to the location near the terminal equipment. This arrangement creates multi-level surge limiting along each level of the lines, facilitating the control of high-energy pulses intruding along power and signal lines.
On the transmission path between outdoor surveillance cameras and the equipment room, dedicated surge protectors should be installed on the incoming cables, especially for long-distance cables crossing open areas. This type of installation typically places the 15 kv surge arrester at cable access points and near the equipment to provide graded suppression of potential induced lightning strikes or power system surges.
