In practical waterproof cable box applications, different manufacturers may use a variety of materials such as ABS, PC, and aluminum alloy, and these materials have different parameters such as chemical composition, processing technology, reinforcing fillers, and UV resistance rating. For example, plastic weatherproof electrical box, made of PC (polycarbonate), performs better in terms of temperature resistance and impact resistance; while waterproof junction box, made of ABS, is cheaper, but has weaker weather resistance and UV resistance.

Although many manufacturers claim that their waterproof distribution box meets the same protection level (such as IP67, IP68), the waterproof, dustproof and external force resistance of waterproof electrical box will vary if the filler ratio of raw materials, the degree of glass fiber reinforcement, and the chemical corrosion resistance treatment are different.
