Mechanical performance advantages of glass insulators in power systems

In order to obtain a larger creepage distance, the anti-fouling glass high voltage transmission line insulators can only achieve this by adding several deep edges on the lower surface of the overhead power line insulators umbrella skirt (due to process reasons, it is impossible to increase the creepage distance by double or triple umbrellas like porcelain tension insulator). When used in areas with severe dust pollution, the bell-shaped deep-edge umbrella has poor self-cleaning ability and is inconvenient to clean, resulting in serious scaling on the lower surface, which greatly reduces the flashover resistance of dead end insulators.
