Important Operation For Maintaining The Contact Surface Of Parallel Groove Clamps
During routine installation and maintenance of overhead lines, strict requirements are placed on the cleanliness of the contact surfaces of the parallel groove circuit. Accumulated oxides, oil, or other impurities on the contact surfaces can alter the direct contact between metals, adversely affecting electrical connections and mechanical fit.
During on-site operations, the contact surfaces between the parallel groove clamp connector conductor and the wire should be carefully inspected and treated. Use appropriate tools such as wire brushes or specialized cleaning equipment to remove the surface oxide layer and deposits between the wire and the pg clamp connector to restore the complete metal contact area. Special care must be taken with aluminum conductors to avoid damaging their structure during cleaning, ensuring that no residue remains in the contact area.
