Drop-out Fuses Can Be Used As Fault Circuit Disconnection Devices.
In overhead power distribution networks, the drop out fuse price is commonly used as a high-voltage protection switch, installed on branch lines or on the transformer side.
Under normal operation, the fuse tube maintains the contacts closed through the fuse wire, allowing current to flow smoothly. In the event of a short circuit or overcurrent, the fuse wire melts rapidly, and the internal arc-extinguishing tube extinguishes the arc. Subsequently, the fuse wire loses tension, and the fuse tube, under its own weight and the contact spring, quickly falls, thus allowing the drop out fuse set to complete its "circuit breaking" action.
The drop action of drop out fuse unit creates a clear and visible break point. Through this physical disconnection action, the faulty section of the line or equipment is effectively isolated. Simultaneously, only the fuse tube or the fuse element needs to be replaced, without replacing the entire structural components or insulators, significantly reducing maintenance complexity and accelerating power restoration.
