Correlation Between Insulator Surface Resistance And Pollution Flashover Voltage

Given the same surface dirtiness of composite suspension insulator and the same surface conductivity of polymer suspension insulator, the surface resistance of suspension type insulator is higher than that of the smaller-form-factor composite tension insulator porcelain string. The pollution flashover voltage of high voltage transmission line insulators is directly related to surface resistance. High surface resistance of overhead power line insulators leads to low leakage current, resulting in a correspondingly higher pollution flashover voltage of tension insulator.
