Application Of Ultrasonic Testing Technology In Power Fittings

In the overhead line hardware testing process, ultrasonic technology is widely used for non-destructive testing. By penetrating the interior of the hardware material with high-frequency sound waves, the testing equipment can detect minute cracks, pores, or structural anomalies. This method is not limited by the type of hardware material and can assess internal defects in aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and steel hardware. During the testing process, operators can identify the location and size of different internal defects in the hardware based on the sound wave reflection signals, providing data support for subsequent maintenance.

In specific applications, ultrasonic testing equipment is typically equipped with high-precision probes and digital signal processing modules. The probe is in close contact with the overhead power line connectors surface, transmitting sound waves through a coupling medium. The signal processing module analyzes the echoes in real time, converting abnormal waveforms into visual images or curves, providing quantitative data for the operator.

Testing Process and Content

The testing process can be divided into the following steps:

  1. Equipment Preparation: Adjust the probe frequency and scanning mode, and select testing parameters suitable for the overhead power line hardware material.

  2. Surface treatment: The transmission line hardware surface is cleaned to ensure the stability of acoustic wave coupling.

  3. Scanning Operation: Move the probe along a predetermined path to collect echo signals from various areas of the hardware.

  4. Data Analysis: The echo signal is analyzed using software to identify and mark the location and extent of any anomalies.

  5. Record Archiving: A test report is generated, including waveform diagrams, defect locations, and test conditions.

This process is suitable for the inspection of hardware in high-voltage and ultra-high-voltage transmission lines and power distribution equipment. Each hardware component can be inspected individually, and a complete data archive is created.
