VI. Conclusion
Recently, there have been frequent reports of broken strands in OPGW optical cables in normal operation, and power users have asked how to deal with broken strands in OPGW. OPGW optical cables are broken or even scattered for various reasons, which is something that neither OPGW manufacturers nor power users want to happen. In addition to the reasons for OPGW design and manufacturing, other factors that lead to OPGW broken strands cannot be estimated and eliminated in advance, which will bring great hidden dangers to the maintenance and long-term use of OPGW optical cables. Based on the solution to improve the lightning resistance level of OPGW, Zhongtian has concluded through experimental research that it is completely possible to use armor rods for acsr repair strips to repair broken strands of OPGW that meet certain conditions, so that their tensile strength and cross-sectional area are close to the original state of OPGW, and still meet the design requirements for normal operation of the line.
