As a core hardware component in overhead transmission lines, ab cable suspension clamp consists of a bracket, U-bolts, wire clamps, a hull, and a pressure plate. The design of the upper pressure plate directly determines the clamping effect of the wire clamps on the conductors or lightning protection wires, and is a crucial factor in ensuring the long-term stable operation of the entire structure.

Upper Pressure Plate Structure and Clamping Logic

abc suspension clamp employs an upper pressure plate design. The pressure plate is located directly above the hull opening. Clamping force is applied from top to bottom using U-bolts to secure the conductor to the hull's inner cavity. A closed wire groove is formed between the pressure plate and the hull. After the conductor is placed within this groove, the nuts at both ends are tightened, causing the pressure plate to press down, ensuring a tight fit between the conductor and the hull's inner wall.

The clamping action of this structure is divided into the following stages:

  • Initial Positioning: The conductor falls into the hull's cable tray, and the clamping plate covers it, forming an initial covering;

  • Bolt Tightening: U-bolts pass through the holes at both ends of the clamping plate, and after tightening the nuts, the pressure is transmitted downwards;

  • Uniform Stress Distribution: The clamping plate's lateral span covers the conductor clamping area, distributing the clamping force along the conductor's axial direction and reducing localized stress concentration.

If the conductor is not sufficiently clamped, the cable and the clamping hull will experience relative movement under wind force, leading to long-term friction and conductor wear, potentially causing detachment. Therefore, the clamping degree of the upper clamping plate must be strictly controlled during the installation phase.

Key technical points in construction and installation

During construction, the corresponding specification j hook suspension clamp should be selected according to the conductor cross-section, and aluminum tape should be wrapped around the wire clamps according to the process requirements before tightening the conductor. After the upper clamping plate is installed, the tightening torque of each nut must be checked to prevent uneven stress from causing the clamping plate to warp or loosen on one side.

The use of suspension clamp for ab cable reduces the stress on the cable at the suspension point and controls the dynamic stress generated by wind vibration, thus providing shock absorption protection for the cable. As a load-bearing component that directly contacts the conductor, the material and flatness of the upper pressure plate directly affect the above-mentioned vibration reduction effect. Strict control of processing precision is required in the production process to maintain a stable clamping state during long-term operation.
