Advantages Of Wedge-type (stripping) Tension Clamps

The advantages of Changeover load isolationg switch are as follows:

1. Consider the wire breakage caused by lightning protection and stress concentration, as well as the slipping wire caused by creep of the insulation layer.

For the non-stripping wire clamp, the tension clamp is made of two wedge-shaped clamps made of hard plastic. The insulation of the insulated wire at the clamp is damaged by creep of the insulation layer due to the grip force generated. In addition, the parallel sharp angles of the wire clamp shell structure will generate induced overvoltage, causing lightning strike and wire breakage.

2. Non-direct lightning strike wire.

Because the counter-attack voltage of the ground or trees struck by lightning is on the wire, the non-stripping wire clamp is insulated from the wire, and the insulated wire bears a very high residual pressure and breaks the wire. The stripping wire clamp is a thick metal body, which plays the role of reservoir capacity and heat dissipation. The residual pressure is borne by the tension wire clamp itself, which is the same as installing a gapped arrester or a long flashover arrester on a straight pin insulator.

3. When we tested the 240mm2 insulated wire with the peeled and unpeeled tension clamps, the peeled NXL wedge-shaped tension clamps did not cramp until the tension exceeded 3.5 tons, and the wire was damaged. However, when the tension reached 1.7 tons, the insulation sheath of the unpeeled tension clamps separated from the aluminum core wire and cramping occurred. Many international insulated line design regulations clearly stipulate that the insulated wire must be peeled when installing tension clamps.
