A Brief Discussion On Factors That Cause Heating Of Electrical Fittings

Suspension Clamp Surface heating will shorten the service life. What are the factors that cause surface heating?
1 Oxidation corrosion. Because the conductor joints with external thermal defects are exposed to the atmosphere for a long time, they are exposed to the sun, rain, wind and dust condensation and chemically active gases for many years, causing serious rust or oxidation on the contact surface of the metal fittings and conductors. The oxide layer will increase the resistivity of the metal contact surface by dozens or even hundreds of times;
2 Loose wire joints. The conductor connection parts are subjected to mechanical vibration, shaking or swinging under the action of wind for a long time, causing the conductor crimping screws to loosen;
3 Poor installation quality.
a) If the joint fasteners are not tightened in place;

b) When installing, the fastening screws are not placed flat on the washers or spring washers, and they become loose due to the influence of thermal expansion and contraction;
c) The wire clamp and the wire are not cleaned before connection, and no electrical composite grease is applied, or the composite grease is not sealed well, allowing moisture to invade and cause oxidation, which increases the contact resistance and heat;

d) The aluminum wire and the copper contact are connected without a copper-aluminum transition joint;
e) The wire clamp structure is not good, and the wire is damaged and broken at the wire clamp port;
